Avacta raises over £500 for RSPCA and UNICEF

Avacta are delighted to announce raising over £500 in sponsoring money with their participation in the world-famous charity event, the Great Knaresborough bed race. Members of Avacta staff embraced the theme of Myths and Legends by dressing up and decorating the bed in the theme of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. In the race itself, team Avacta came 57th out of 91 teams and completed the race, which goes through the streets of Knaresborough and finishes with crossing the river Nidd, in a time of 19.36 minutes.  The money raised also included a donation from Avacta Animal Health to the RSPCA, as part of their campaign to recycle their old green SENSITEST/YorkTest submission boxes.

bed race 2013Over the last four years, Avacta has raised over £2500 for charity, supporting charities that include ActionAid, UNICEF, RSPCA, Save the Children, Children in Need and Martin House Children’s Hospice, by participating in a variety of local charity and internal company events. In 2009, members of staff completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, a tough 24 mile walk including the peaks of Penyghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. This was followed by the Great Knaresborough Bed Race in 2011, 2012 and 2013, and last year also saw staff doing voluntary work at a local children’s hospice, followed by raising money via raffles and a bake sale.
